The team did not announce the price. The building will be known as the Consol Energy Center."   I think it's a great name - I heard Mark Madden mention it the other night. It has a good ring to it. Truth be told, I was a tad worried we'd end up with something like "The Gaylord Entertainment Center" that the Predators had for some time. Consol Energy Center sounds like a hockey rink, and given Consol's commitment to pre-game advertising before that panders to us Pens fans, I like it. Can't wait to see how many people forget to drop the 'e' at the end of 'Consol'. Maybe for the inaugural game they can have a giant paper-mache of their logo, and then actually blow it up with... HIGH VOLTAGE!! One nice thing... Since this thing will be called the CONSOL ENERGY CENTER, I find it hard to believe that fans will ever have to go through blackouts again like they did at Mellon. Ha.

MattyGabe Administrator Member #: 1 Total Posts: 273       Posted at 3:17PM on 3-24-09 Was at the game this past Sunday against Philadelphia (poor effort in that loss, btw...), and we got to see the Consol Energy Center as it's being constructed. Pretty neat so far, a lot of steel beams everywhere, but after seeing the composite drawings you can kind've piece it together and imagine what it will look like... I can't wait. For years now (almost an entire decade) the Pirates have had their nice new ballpark and it almost seemed unfair that they put fans through 16 losing seasons and haven't won a championship since 1979, and yet the Pens did a back-to-back and look to challenge for more for quite some time now, and yet they're still playing in the same arena that the franchise started out in in 1967 (albeit with a few renovations). Just didn't seem fair until this point. Cannot wait!
